For the children in these households, lack of food and nutrients will not only leave them hungry, but at risk of experiencing other developmental issues in areas such as physical health, mental health, education and social wellbeing.

With so many families struggling, Heinz Beanz and Barnardos have teamed up for a second time to bring back its limited-edition three-pack of ‘Heinz Meanz Meals’ cans, helping support their work with children living in disadvantaged areas across Ireland.

For every pack purchased, Heinz will be donating to Barnardos Breakfast Clubs. The children’s charity provides nutritious breakfast food, such as Heinz No Added Sugar Beanz which are naturally high in protein and fibre, to selected Barnardos centres across Ireland.

2022 at 2Way Communications

2022 marked the first full calendar year in business for 2Way Comms, and it did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of working with old clients and new across a broad range of campaigns, launches, events, and more. 


We kicked off the year with some exciting work for our clients. Sustainable Irish urban wear brand Human Collective launched at the end of 2021. The interest and support for the brand snowballed well into the new year with a series of interviews and features for founder Conor Buckley and his team, including a segment on the Six O’Clock Show, interviews in The Sunday Times, The Irish Times, Irish Independent and Star Chic Magazine as well as more brand coverage across national and regional print and digital publications.

Human Collective wasn’t the only client winning at the beginning of the year. The Galway-based small-batch gin company Tribe Irish Gin launched to much success, including a business feature in The Sunday Times on Irish Covid start-ups. Winedown adapted to the covid hospitality restrictions and launched a delivery-based, 6-course tasting menu which was not only delicious but a huge success with Dublin foodies and media alike. 


Key calendar dates like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day offer excellent opportunities to have a little fun and highlight key brand products and offerings. From celebratory reservations at Winedown to aphrodisiac pizzas at Freddy’s, cocktails from Tribe Irish Gin and toasties at Meltdown to luxe, sustainable sleepwear from Zzzana, makeup-up must-haves from Up Cosmetics and Blank Canvas Cosmetics and home fragrances from Somás Studio, 2Way Comms clients had all bases covered.

Brand launches, projects, and campaigns are always an exciting part of our work. Whether it’s a single activity or a more complex campaign, working with new clients is always interesting. In 2022, we had the pleasure of working with some fabulous organisations on some of their short-term campaigns, from the launch of season two of the climate change podcast The Climate Alarm Clock and highlighting the Kalette harvest at Sprout & Co Kitchen’s Sprout Farm to a beautiful Mother’s Day campaign with Irish fragrance brand Somás Studio, a capsule collection from Irish Designer Manley and the launch of sustainable swim robe company Lily Mais.

In 2022, 2Way Comms joined forces with several beautiful Irish homeware and design-based clients, including the award-winning printmakers JANDO, Irish online interior destination Lil &Co Home, and the Galway-founded Turkish textile brand The Soft Cotton Shop. After spending two years living and working in our homes, it seems we’ve all found a new appreciation for beautiful interiors, from artwork to textiles to tableware. Consumers and media alike showed their support for these wonderful Irish brands.

Award submissions are always beneficial when helping to build a brand profile and lend gravitas, as well as aligning a brand or company with its competitors. In 2022 a number of our clients came out on top in areas of sustainability, beauty, and more with important Irish publications from the Business Post to Social & Personal, RSVP Magazine and HiStyle.ie.

2022 brought people back together, and events were firmly back on the table and part of the PR schedule once again. We hosted some memorable launches and events, from new menu launches at Winedown to the Tribe Gin School opening in Galway, collaborations between our clients Freddy’s and Meltdown, as well as the launch of the Human Collective Pop-Up Shop in St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre.

Our goals mirror those of our clients; to help them grow, build brand recognition with their target audiences and gain valuable coverage as a result of exciting campaigns and activities that reflect individual brand values. We are tireless in our efforts to maximise opportunities for clients at every turn, and the ongoing coverage and opportunities we generated for each client, big or small, in 2022 reflect this.

We are so excited to kick off a new year of business in 2023 with clients old and new and hope to achieve even more in the year ahead.

Add some festive flair to your table setting this New Years with styling tips from Lil & Co Home

Post-Christmas festivities mean fewer baubles and more bubbles. This year, for the first time in three consecutive years, we have plenty of options for New Year’s Eve party plans. If you are entertaining family or friends with a dinner party at home, it is time to start thinking about how you will dress a warm and welcoming table to gather around for the festivities, and ring in the New Year with great cheer!  

Founders of Lil & Co Home, Laura Gaffney and Ciara Doyle have put together some tips to create a relaxing ambience for your guests to enjoy by adding some festive flair.  

  • Colour Palette: Start your table setting by deciding on a colour palette. You may be tired of all the traditional Christmas reds and golds by the time New Years comes around so we suggested working in some more neutral colours inspired by nature such as winter whites, peaceful blues and mossy greens. It is always nice to incorporate some natural elements into your table colour palette too by bringing the outside in, including pinecones, sprigs of festive holly or eucalyptus. 

  • Ambience: Candles will create a warm and relaxing twilight for your guests. Build some drama by adding a collection of candles in a variety of heights and sizes along your sideboard and mantlepiece for an instant dinner party glow. When setting the table we always recommend dotting candles of different heights along the centre of the table for an instant welcoming effect. Remember to never leave lighting candles unattended or use LED candles that provide you with a safer option yet still create a warm candlelight glow

  • Add unique interest: Adding a tablecloth or table runner to your setting is one of the most simple and effective ways to provide a sophisticated and elegant look for any gathering. We favour a subtle print such as our Eucalyptus table runner which is seasonal yet brings all the colours of nature tied together in one. Napkins are also incredibly versatile and can instantly add texture as well as colour to your table setting. Simply placed folded flat on a plate, twisted into a knot or rolled with a napkin ring, napkins can instantly add a structured finish. If hosting drinks and finger food, place a pile of napkins close by for your guests grab and help themselves. 

  • Bling it up: Add sparkle to your New Year’s celebrations with beautiful glassware. Adding a collection of glasses with unique patterns, colours and shapes will elevate your table setting while you cheers to a prosperous New Year in style! 

  • Classic foundation pieces: Sharing boards and serving platters play an important role at any dinner party and a great way to serve finger food, starters or a cheese board to your guests. When it comes to creating the perfect platter, preparation is key and allows you to spend less time in the kitchen and more time catching up with family and friends. 

  • Mix and Match: Don’t feel like you need everything to match. In fact, mixing your tableware by adding larger items in different colours such as bowls can create a very stylish and chic look.

  • Centrepiece: lastly, for the night that’s in it, why not create some interactive fun by placing a Resolutions jar on the table along with some paper and pens to encourage your guests to write down their goals for the year ahead.

JANDO’s NEW Studio and Showroom Now Open to the Public

The award-wining Irish printmakers JANDO have launched a brand-new studio and showroom at Dublin’s Chocolate Factory, which is open to the public with a fully-shoppable collection of JANDO prints and products. 

JANDO have been capturing iconic architecture with their signature pop-art style for the past number of years and have built an impressive following across the globe with more than 70 stockists worldwide and a global community of collectors. 

Like many, Julie and Owen McLoughlin, the husband-and-wife duo behind the brand (hence the acronym J-AND-O), were forced to pivot when the pandemic hit. With stockists closed, they had to rely on online sales for two years. Their work environment was also upended with Owen working from home and Julie from a small studio space in The Chocolate Factory.

While the business thrived and the brand’s following grew over the course of lockdowns and restrictions, the opening of the newly refreshed 3,500sq ft space at the iconic Dublin location, marks an exciting new chapter for the Irish brand. 

The light-filled space merges an impressive working studio and event space with a showroom that captures the essence of JANDO’s work.

Designed by brand founders Julie and Owen, along with Alannha Monks of Orianna B Interiors, the JANDO Showroom is a bright and welcoming space that encapsulates everything the feel-good brand is about including vibrant colour-pop accents that complement the existing charm of the building.

The JANDO Showroom is open to the public Monday-Friday 9am-4pm by appointment only and from June 2022, customers can also enjoy a ‘Showroom Open Day’ one day per month, where shoppers and collectors are free to pop in and meet the makers or pick up some JANDO goodies, exclusive to the showroom.

Speaking about the launch, founder Julie McLoughlin said, “We’re so excited to be able to share this wonderful new space with the public. It’s a chance for us to meet our customers again, something we really missed during Covid, and for them to come and view our pieces in person and to meet the people behind JANDO.

Created by Maeve O’Malley, founder of cheese toasty haven Meltdown, Hot Stuff started out as a key ingredient for some of the café’s favourite grilled cheese sandwiches. The sauce was hugely popular with Meltdown customers and so Maeve started to bottle it for the café tables. With daily requests to purchase it, O’Malley decided it was time to give the people what they wanted and began to produce small batches of the much sought after sauce. Soon O’Malley began selling the low fat, plant-based, hot sauce to stores around the country.

Speaking about the Kickstart Programme, O’Malley said, “We’re so excited to be launching into Lidl stores across Ireland and Northern Ireland. As a small business it’s a great initiative to help us get in front of thousands of customers who may not know about Meltdown or Hot Stuff. I have put a lot of time and effort into getting the recipe just right and I can’t wait for people all over the country to have the chance to try it!”

Winedown this Autumn with warming small plates and perfect wine pairings

Located on Dublin’s Montagues street, Winedown’s new Autumn menu speaks to the season with fresh, quality produce sourced locally.

The restaurant which opened in December 2020, a bold move in the height of the pandemic has ridden the wave of restrictions and re-openings, pivoting the business at each stage to provide quirky take-away options and accommodate outdoor dining, and is ready for a fresh start this season with a brand new menu.

Winedown owner Maeve O’Malley (also of Meltdown), has created a relaxed, funky space adorned with contemporary Irish art, serving up elegant tapas-style small plates, sharing plates, exceptional cheeses and delicious wine pairings.

The small plates cover a multitude of tastes and preferences with options From the Sea, From the Land and From the Ground. Killary Mussels with White Wine and Nduja (€9.50), Irish Porcupine Prawns, Lemongrass and Chili Emulsion (€13.50) and Lemon Sole, Hose Tartar, Pea Puree (€7.50) cover the seafood options. Meat-lovers won’t be disappointed with options like Asian Marinated Bavette Steak Skewers, House Rayu and Pickled Ginger (€10.50) and Chermoula Chicken Thighs, Fresh Mango Salsa (€7.50) and a Pork and Beef Paloette with Salsa Verde (€6.50).

Plates From the Ground include Grilled Halloumi with Romesco and Grilled Courgette in a Sherry Vinegar Reduction (€7.50), Burrata and Peach Salad (€9.00) and a Chipotle Jackfruit Taco, Pickled Cabbage (€7.00).

To share, the Chef’s Selection Charcuterie Board (€17.50) is a hit alongside the Cheese Board (€15.00) with cheeses including Schnebelhorn, St Agur Blue, 17-month aged Comte with Truffle honey, St Tola Ash Log and Delice de Bourgogne.

Taking inspiration from the cult favourite toasties of its sister restaurant Meltdown, the Toastie Croquettes (€12.00) are not to be missed with a selection of Mac Mamma, Smoked Fungi and Spicy Cajun.

With suppliers including Carraignamuc Cottage, Fruit and Veg, Glenmar Shellfish, McLoughlin’s Butchers, Little Italy and Sheridan’s Cheese Mongers, quality local produce is at the heart of Winedown’s approach to food.

Speaking about the menu, O’Malley says, “Using and promoting Irish suppliers and produce is an important part of our mission at Winedown. We looked far and wide to compile a list of suppliers who create and source spectacular produce right here at home. We believe in the quality of Irish produce and see it as a more sustainable option, promoting Ireland as a food destination while aiming to reduce our impact on the planet.”

FREDDY’S Celebrates a New Era with a Fresh New Look and Menu On Galway’s Quay Street

FREDDY’S, Galway’s much loved Italian restaurant, opens its doors following a challenging year to unveil a new look after embarking on an extensive refurbishment and rebranding exercise. With a tempting new menu created by a talented new team, Freddy’s is firmly positioning itself as a top casual dining destination in the city.  

Located on Galway’s vibrant Quay Street, in the heart of the city’s Latin Quarter, the restaurant has been owned and operated by the Coyne family since 1990. Formerly Fat Freddy’s, the new vision for Freddy’s is backed by son Dara Coyne and his partner Sophie McLaughlin, whose joint desire to take over the family business and inject new life into the city, has been the driving force behind the restaurant’s new look and offering. 

Speaking about the relaunch, Dara Coyne, Owner of Freddy’s said, “We wanted to create a space that retained the warmth and heart that was so inherent to the character of Fat Freddy’s, while also appealing to a new customer base that might not have grown up visiting the restaurant. 

Freddy’s is a fresh take on what Fat Freddy’s did so well for so long. We want to welcome customers old and new to experience the modern comfort of Freddy’s, to enjoy great, quality food, wine, and beers with friends and family, all lovingly prepared and served by our brilliant new team.``

The new design has been created in collaboration with Galway-based architect and designer, Juan Sotoparra. Sophie has a natural interest in design thanks to her mother Ann who had a successful career as an interior designer and had a clear vision for the direction she wanted to take Freddy’s. Housed in one of Galway’s oldest tenement buildings, it was important to both Sophie and Dara to retain the character while being sympathetic to the original building. 

Speaking about the design, Sotoparra said, “The inspiration for the new design came from merging the comfort and casual atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub and Spanish taverna combined with an Italian pizzeria where the cooking action is on display and a new copper pizza oven takes center stage.” 

“The new fit-out incorporates warm rich textures of natural native larch timber, which is complimented by the exposed stone from the original building and new concrete floors. All perfectly balanced by gentle, warm lighting and soft furnishings with a colour palette of deep blue, ochre, and orange.”

Head Chef, Ivan Marchitto, originally from Naples (the modern birthplace of pizza), developed the new menu with a passion for authentic Italian cuisine which stems from his time spent cooking with his family from an early age in Italy.

Freddy’s satisfying lunch menu consists of a delicious selection of freshly made sandwiches featuring Italian focaccia bread that has been fermented for 24 hours and baked fresh each morning, with a variety of flavoursome combinations using delicious Italian meats and cheeses. Freddy’s focaccia sandwiches are available from the hatch Wednesday to Friday and to dine-in at the weekends between 12-3pm. Locally ground coffee and baked treats are also available from the hatch from 10am-12pm Wednesday to Sunday.

The evening menu embraces a range of classic Italian dishes, using the finest locally sourced ingredients. It includes great small plates, perfect pizzas made fresh with cold fermented 48-hour dough with classic and eclectic toppings as well as freshly made pasta and elegant Italian desserts. 

The small plates menu is comprised of classic Burrata Salad with Italian Burrata, Local Cherry Tomatoes (€10), Bruschetta with Homemade Bread, Datterini Tomatoes (€8), Freddy’s Fries with Secret Seasoning (€4.50). 

The Pizza menu includes a mix of the old classics and new combinations. The signature pizza base recipe was developed by Dara during his time spent in lockdown. Speaking about the process, Dara said, “We would make up to 30 pizzas a week, sometimes eating them for breakfast and didn’t stop for almost a year until we were happy with the final result.” 

The pizza dough is slow fermented for over 48 hours and cooked at 450 degrees to create a light and airy pizza base. Highlights include: Spicy N’duja with San Marzano Tomatoes, Fior Di Latte Mozzarella, N’duja Sausage, Cashel Blue Cheese, Honey and Fresh Basil (€15.95), Vegan with San Marzano Tomatoes, Peperonata, Vegan Mozzarella, Red Onion, Vegan Pesto, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Rocket (€14.95). 

From the pasta menu, expect classic Rigatoni Arrabiata with fresh chili, garlic and spicy Italian tomato sauce (€14.50), Linguine Bolognese with slow-cooked beef and pork ragu (€16.50) as well as Seafood Linguine, using fresh locally sourced mussels, clams, squid and prawns in a white wine tomato sauce (€18.50)

For dessert indulge in a classic Tiramisu (€6.50), Cheesecake of the week (€6.50), or something a little lighter, Chocolate Mousse €6. 

A new drinks menu includes a selection of Italian wine and beer as well as a choice of local beers and ciders from (€5.50).
